Sav’s Taco Seasoning

taco seasoning

I absolutely love tacos. I don’t love the high sodium content that is in seasoning packets.

Since we eat tacos a couple times a month (ok, who am I kidding – weekly) I make batches of taco seasoning and store it in old spice jars or a big mason jar. This way, I know what I’m putting into my tacos and body. Additionally, I can control the salt content and heat level.

This is a simple recipe that you can add to based off of your favorite spices and flavors. You can switch up the ratio to easily adapt to a chili seasoning from this as well.

Once you make your own taco seasoning, you will wonder why you have not done it before! Believe it or not, the picture below I took in 2014 from our first apartment. Little did I know that it would have a forever home here on our page.

It turned out to be so great, such a stand by, reliable recipe. It works every time, you can double, triple or even quadruple it depending on how much space and spices you have. I keep at least a pint jar full of this at all times.

One of my absolute favorite places to get bulk spices from is Penzeys. They offer incredibly high quality spices and herbs. Located in our neighboring state of Wisconsin, Penzeys is an employee owned business that puts their values above all. I highly recommend checking out their site and subscribing to the email list, Bill sends great newsletters!

Anyway, back to the taco seasoning. Give the recipe a try – is there another ingredient you like to add? Let me know below!
